A Day Out With Thomas

After two straight years of praying (four times a day) that he would be able to ride on Thomas the Train again, we finally took him for another Day Out with Thomas. In our defense, Thomas only comes to town two weekends a year. We surprised him and his reaction was a little anti-climatic this year, but we still had a blast. He was one of the older kids there, so I'm wondering if the end of his Thomas the Train obsession is near. He rarely requests the Thomas show anymore and non-train related toys are starting to enter his daily play routine. I hope that he will still continue to be a train kid, but if not, we had a good run.

They rode on the dining car. Beckett was chosen to be the
honorary engineer. He even got to speak on the microphone.

J got to ride on Thomas. She wasn't thrilled.
So many little sisters at the event! Most of them were hanging
out with their grandparents. J had no complaints about that!

4th Birthday

On Beckett's birthday, Blake and I took him to Incredible Pizza and had an absolute blast (pictures in earlier post). Because his birthday falls around Easter/Spring Break, we normally have his party a few weeks later when my parents can get off of work and fly out.

This year, I was in the process of planning a party when I was put on bed rest. I didn't want to cancel, but I knew that I wouldn't be disciplined enough to not get out of the recliner for the entire duration of the party. My mom and mother-in-law were perfectly capable of throwing the party, but I knew that my stubbornness wouldn't allow me to relax while hosting. So, we decided to do a small family gathering this year and it was absolutely perfect (and I even stayed in the recliner for the most part).

I'll Be Back Soon

I've been MIA for a few months. Here's why:

I hope to catch up soon. Don't worry, I've taken
thousands of pictures. I just need to upload them.

Only Child Expiring

We took these pictures on Beckett's last night of being an only child. He was so excited about meeting his little sister and counted down the days to June 15. We kept telling him that she could come a little earlier, but he kept reminding us that the doctor said June 15. His understanding was that she would come no earlier and no later than June 15 and he was correct.

Gang is all here, it's time to have a baby!

A little spoiling from the grandmothers. This boy is in heaven!

First Purchase

Beckett saved his money to buy a Thomas the Train pillow. He saved up for a while with this item in mind. We quizzed him several times to make sure that this was what he absolutely wanted. The pillow cost a total of $20, so we wanted to make sure that he wouldn't change his mind after the purchase. For many months, he talked about how he was saving up for this pillow. We were so proud of him for working so hard and setting his mind to something and following through with it. He was one excited boy when he finally had enough money saved and he and dad got to make his big purchase at Target.

Summer Time Activities (2013)

I just found this post that I forgot to post two summers ago.
It's fun to look back at this blonde haired baby.

Warning: this post is probably TMI, but I'd like to record it just so that I can remember it in the future. Today (June 29) is the first day that Beckett has used his potty for its actual purpose. It has been used for many things (step-stool, basketball goal, etc). Tonight he actually used the bathroom in it for the first time. We aren't really trying to potty train at the moment, but he became interested in the potty about a month ago, so we decided to give it a try and at least start introducing him to it.

This is disgusting, but the last time he was sick, we used the bowl as a puke bucket (since it had never been used for anything else). After he vomited in it, he excitedly announced "I pee-peed in the potty!" He was so proud and so sick that we hated to tell him vomit didn't count.

Easter Pictures

Our church has done Easter pictures for the past few years. This year, Beckett and his best friend, Stella, kept sneaking off to take what they called "family pictures." I didn't realize how many times they had posed until the pictures were posted the next day. (In our defense, both her parents and his parents are over the children's ministry, so we were all busy trying to get everyone else's kids where they were supposed to be. Ha!!) Thank you, Jess, for being so patient with these silly kids.

Our bff, Kate, joined in on the fun. These three..

Beckett insisted on taking a family picture.
Blake and I were working with the kids,
so these were our work clothes. And it was
cold. And rainy. And I'm hugely pregnant. :)
But, by golly, we look like a big happy family, kind of.
