Vacationing in Orlando

Last month, Beckett and I took a trip to Orlando to meet my parents for a mini vacation. My dad had a conference to attend, so my mom, Beckett and I enjoyed our time together during the days and Dad joined us in the evenings. It was my first time flying alone with Beckett and he was really a champ.

Hanging out at the pool in mid-February! Doesn't he look so bald?

So proud of his beads

Too much partying for Beckett! Kaki is still going strong :)

Also, we would like to wish my mom and dad a very Happy 29th Anniversary! Thank you both for setting such a wonderful example for us all.

Beautiful bride

I can't find any other wedding photos at the moment, so I'll leave you with these fun photos from their honeymoon at Disney. Notice the matching outfits (Dad's idea, not Mom's).

Happy 11 Months!

Wow, 11 months? That means I only have one month left of my "I can't do that, I just had a baby" excuses. "I can't wash dishes, I just gave birth," or "I can't cook because I just had a baby a few months ago," etc... (Just kidding! I DO NOT do this, but it would be nice if we were allowed a full year to recover, right?)

Anyways, it's so sad to think that my little boy is almost a year old. Boo hoo hoo. It's crazy to think back to a year ago. I was waddling to and from my office at work, eating every half hour, sitting in meetings trying not to squeal when a little foot would kick me in the ribs, trying to hide the kicking feet or hiccups that noticeably made my stomach jump up and down, and listening to everyone's encouraging words ("Wow, you're huge. Are you sure it's not twins?" or "You're never going to make it to your due date," and other complimentary remarks). Such sweet memories, but not as sweet as the memories that we've made over the last 11 months.

Enough of the emotional rambling (I'll save that nonsense for the 12 month post).

Look at those long legs!

Beckett, what have you been up to?

Well, we can officially call you a "walker." You took your first real step on Valentine's Day, to Daddy, right before he left to go out of town. You really made his day. Then, you took a day off from trying and then took about 4 consecutive steps the next day. The rest is history, and you've been walking every day since. *Note: Your mother started walking at 10 months, too, so I'm sure that's where you inherited your genius genes * You've got a little toy walker that you use to sprint around the house with. It's amazing how fast you can run with that thing, especially when you push it on the kitchen tile.

A few days later, you learned to go from sitting to a standing position. You stick your bottom straight up in the air and place a hand on the floor to balance, identical to a football center's position.

Eating has become a little more of a hassle. You still love to eat and are a huge eater, but you still won't eat anything slimy. Hopefully this is just a stage that you'll grow out of.

You still love Curious George and Sid the Science Kid, but Thomas & Friends and Elmo are both growing on you. I haven't really figured out why you like Thomas because I find him quite boring, but I'm happy if you're happy. We also watch Dinosaur Train together sometimes, probably due to your mother's childhood dream of becoming a paleontologist.

You are a big talker and very expressive when you tell stories. When you get really into it, your little blonde eyebrows go up and down, depending on the seriousness of the conversation. You love to tell stories, although you don't use any recognizeable words yet, other than mama and dada. For some reason every time we go into Target, you feel the need to loudly repeat "dad...dad...dad..." the entire time. I continuously repeat "Daddy's at work, honey." Your new word is "gog" which I'm trying to make you associate with the dog. You like to play patty-cake and will even try to say it along with me.

You have enough hair for a bad hair day now! Yay! We sent you off to Grandma's for the weekend and you came back with hair. It came in all of a sudden, but can really only be seen in the sunlight.

Bed head

You love to play with basketballs and soccer balls. You've gained many free mini basketballs from the ORU games. Sometimes I let you go pick out a toy from your toy box. Although you always have at least 4 or 5 balls in the living room to play with, out of all of the different toys in your toy box, you always choose another ball. You've learned to throw them pretty well, so you will throw them around the house and then chase them. You also have a little basketball goal that you've gotten pretty good at.

You are obsessed with the opening the kitchen cabinets and with unrolling the toilet paper roll (obviously your lazy mother has not completely baby proofed the house yet, but it's coming soon).

When we leave the house, you like to give the dog her treat and close the door to the cage. Believe it or not, you've only tried to eat the dog treat once. You've almost figured out how to open the cage, and Karsten is really hoping that you learn to do that soon.

You have 5 teeth (3 on the bottom and 2 on the top). It looks like you have two more coming in on the bottom, so hopefully those will make a painless appearance soon.

You still like to be the center of attention everywhere you go. You love to fake laugh and will get in these moods where you laugh at anything or for no reason at all. You do this mostly when you are showing off for a crowd.

Fake laugh/showing off for the camera.

1st Wrestling Match

Beckett can add another sport to his list. At the young age of 10 months, he's already attended his first baseball, basketball, soccer and volleyball games. Now, he can add a wrestling match to his list. Blake and Beckett attended the National wrestling duals at Oklahoma State with Grandma and Grandpa. They also got to hang out with his Aunt Shari, Uncle Joey, and cousins, Mackenzie and Cameron.

Happy Birthday, Mema!

Mema is Beckett's great-grandmother. Beckett is her first great-grandchild.

Also, happy 21st birthday to my brother's girlfriend, Kristen!

Fun in the Sun

While Blake was working in the Dakotas, Beckett and I needed to get out of the house for a little while so we went to the park since the weather was nice. It was a sunny 65 degrees, which apparently is pretty uncommon for February in Oklahoma. I think God is cutting me some slack on my first Oklahoma winter. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that the cold is still to come.

Eating the "duck food"

The kid absolutely loves bread of any kind

Trying to cram it in so that the ducks don't take it. He doesn't share food!
